Budget: Presidency gets Sh20bn

Parliament has been allocated Sh44.6 billion, Judiciary Sh24.6 billion

•Parliament’s allocation has increased by Sh4 billion compared with the Sh40.4 billion allocated in the current financial year.

•The Judiciary has been provided Sh24.6 billion of which Sh23.7 billion is for the judiciary and Sh902 million for the Judicial Service Commission.

Kenya’s top three offices have been allocated more than Sh20 billion for expenditure needs in the financial year beginning July 1.

State House has the lion's share with Sh9.4 billion for operations and development.

The amount has been reduced by Sh2 billion from current year’s allocation.

Office of the President has the second largest share of Sh5.1 billion, an increase of about Sh400 million.

Of the amount, Sh1.4 billion is meant for upgrading the equipment at the government printer and running the office.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s office has been allocated Sh4.9 billion while Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi's office has been given Sh1.1 billion.

The government printer was moved to State House from the Interior department when President William Ruto reorganised the government.

About Sh1.6 billion has been allocated for general administration of the President’s office while Sh1.2 billion has been set aside for government advisory services.

The President has assigned advisers on matters economy led by David Ndii and national security led by Monica Juma.

Sh846 million has been set aside for leadership and coordination of government services at the President's office.

Sh646 million of State House allocation has been set aside for the administration and payment of pension perks for retired state officers.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and his counterpart Moody Awori are among former state officers drawing the perks.

First Lady Rachel Ruto’s office has been allocated Sh696 million, Sh100 million more than current financial year.

About Sh5.7 billion has been allocated for running State House Nairobi, while Sh452 million has been set aside for President’s press team.

State House has also been allocated Sh1.1 billion for policy analysis and research in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025.

Of DP's allocation, Sh557 million has been set aside for the office of the spouse of the Deputy President (Dorcas Rigathi), a reduction of about Sh160 million.

Press and communications has been allocated Sh167 million and DP’s support services has received Sh2.1 billion.

Sh721 million will be used for headquarters and administrative services.

MPs recently slashed the DP’s budget by about Sh500 million and reallocated the amounts to coffee and tea reforms and anti-drugs campaign.

Mudavadi’s Sh1.1 billion for government coordination and supervision, which is Sh200 million lower than the allocation for the current financial year.

The offices’ key departments of parliamentary affairs and performance and delivery management have been allocated Sh1.05 billion.

At least Sh275 million will go to Cabinet Affairs, being monies spent on Cabinet meetings and expenses related to the same, including personnel.

While they hoped for Sh65 billion, the National Treasury has allocated Parliament Sh44.6 billion. National Assembly has the lion's share of Sh26.8 billion.

The Senate has been provided Sh8 billion, Sh8.6 billion for Parliamentary Joint Services while Sh1.2 billion will go towards funding the Parliamentary Service Commission.

The Judiciary allocation is Sh2 billion more compared with what the entity received in the fiscal year that is ending in about two weeks.

The government intends to spend Sh3.91 trillion, overall.

Of the amount, Sh1.58 trillion will be for recurrent expenditure, Sh727.9 billion for development expenditure, Sh1.21 trillion for consolidated fund services and Sh400 billion for county equitable share.
