In Summary

  • Uhuru and Ruto also found themselves in similar circumstances.
  • Political leadership largely determines the stability and economic well-being of a country.

The perceived acrimony between President William Ruto and Deputy  President Rigathi Gachagua has split the political space.

Members from the different political divides have taken the opportunity to echo their political sentiments and try to shift blame on each other.

The deputy president has been championing the 'one man one vote one shilling formula.

This issue has seen him gain more political critics and he has been seen as a staunch crusader of the agenda in the Mt Kenya region.

On the contrary, the President has been quiet and focused on driving the national agenda.

However, politicians from his backyard have been seen as rebellious to the deputy president for his strong and firm support for his agenda.

This should not be interpreted as rivalry, it's just difference on principles and opinions. Both teams have valid and feasible ideas that when deliberated will yield fruits.

Former president Uhuru Kenyatta and his then deputy, Ruto, experienced the same political turmoil during their tenure but this did not hinder their administration from achieving its goals in delivering services to Kenyans.

To cool down the rising political temperature, both teams from Rift Valley and Mt Kenya should sit at a table and put forward a win-win governance discussion that will be beneficial to Kenyans.

Political leadership largely determines the stability and economic well-being of a country. Sound economic policies go hand in hand with political decisions.

After the 20222 elections, our major focus should be economic transformation, to better the lives of Kenyans as the political class promised citizens.

The political factions in these regions should come together and show Kenyans unity and commitment to purpose, so that in future, when history is written, the Ruto-Gachagua presidency will be iconic and a good point of reference for all leaders locally and globally
