A family is mourning after their one-and-a-half-year-old child drowned in a shallow family borehole in a village in Trans Nzoia County.
The incident happened in Botwa Miti Moja village, police said.
The boy had been crawling outside their home unattended when he drowned.
According to police, the child's parents were busy in the house when they realized the boy was missing prompting a search.
The search led them to a shallow borehole about 10 meters from the house where the body lay.
The body with no visible injuries was retrieved from the borehole and taken to the Kitale Referral Hospital for autopsy and other procedures.
Meanwhile, police are investigating an incident in which a mob in Emali, Makueni lynched two robbery suspects.
The bodies of the two were found lying in Kinyoo area within Emali Trading Centre with serious burns.
Police said the two were accused of stealing motorcycles in the area when a mob landed on them with stones and sticks before setting their bodies on fire.
The bodies were later moved to the Sultan Hamud Hospital Morgue for identification and autopsy.
