President William Ruto now says that serving in the Kenya Defence Forces is beyond just a career in the military.
Speaking during the Cadet Commissioning Parade at the Kenya Military Academy in Lanet, Ruto said it is dedication and sacrifice.
The President said that their graduating officers are also embracing a sacred calling to lead in all circumstances.
"As you take up your oath today, to commission into the esteemed officer cadre of the Kenya Defence Forces, always remember the path you have chosen always transcends mere career. A soldier’s way is a noble vocation and you are called to dedicate your lives to service and sacrifice," he said.
"You are not merely graduating, you are embracing a sacred calling to lead, command and manage troops and resources of the Kenya Defence Forces with sound judgement, even in extreme hardship."
The Commander-in-Chief reminded them that their most important duty henceforth would be accomplishing their duty.
Ruto urged the officers to execute their responsibilities with total dedication and commitment.
He said they must also ensure the safety and security of all people of Kenya.
"As future leaders of our Defence forces, you must bear the responsibility of protecting your sovereignty and our collective sovereignty, defending our borders with grace and fortitude and living up to your oath of office," Ruto said.
The President said that the journey of becoming a military officer is not easy it is not a walk in the park.
He said it is full of challenges that only the very best can overcome all officers graduating have demonstrated that.
"Each of you standing before us today has endured thorough training that has tested your limits and pushed you beyond what you thought was possible by excelling in gruelling military exercise and meticulous work, you have demonstrated physical, and psychological resilience, discipline and focus as well as strong devotion to your chosen paths," Ruto added.
"Today you emerge stronger and ready to take up your responsibilities and from me I say congratulations."
