President William Ruto has affirmed his commitment to work with leaders across the political divide to accelerate service delivery.
“Our engagement with grassroots leaders, irrespective of their political affiliation, guarantees quick delivery of services to Kenyans," President Ruto said.
President Ruto made the remarks when he met a section of political leaders from Nyamira County at State House on Tuesday evening.
The president said the county leaders were led by Governor Amos Nyaribo to discuss development projects in the area.
Also present were MPs Clive Gisairo (Kitutu Masaba), Steve Mogaka (West Mugirango) and Patrick Osero (Borabu).
Gisairo said the meeting “dissected common issues affecting the people of Nyamira, our political persuasions notwithstanding.”
“The collective approach to issues directly affecting those we represent in leadership should be the guiding principles of our quest for equity in the allocation of resources and social-economic development," Gisairo posted on his X account.
The ODM MP said they discussed with the president the speed at which Amabuko-Gekano-Birongo-Manga- Motemomwamu and Kemera-Kiendege-Keumbu road contracts are being executed.
“I am delighted to report that the president assured us his unwavering commitment to having the said roads completed as soon as possible to serve Wananchi, with the priority being the oldest road; Ngenyi-Manga- Motemomwamu," Gisairo said.
“It is our collective decision to engage fellow leaders as we seek common solutions to the problems affecting our people.”
On his part, Nyaribo said the meeting with the discussed and deliberated on the “future development of Nyamira County.”
This was not the first time that leaders from Nyamira had met the President.
In August last year, President Ruto held a meeting with elected leaders from Nyamira and Kisii counties, days after he toured Gusiiland.
The meeting was seen as part of the president's strategy to buttress his grip on the region that is perceived to be the stronghold of opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The leaders submitted to the president a memorandum of understanding on key priority areas that they want the government to implement.
The leaders identified key projects and prepared status reports on those that were underway in constituencies and wards including electricity connectivity.
