Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi now says that any plan to unseat President William Ruto in 2027 will not succeed.

In a message to Mt Kenya leaders, Ngunyi said some of the leaders from the region calling for unity are doing so to unite against Ruto.

He went on to say the group has made matters worse for itself by revealing their plans early.

The former Technical adviser to President Uhuru Kenyatta further classified the Kikuyu into two: those from the Mountain and those from the Valley.

"Mountain Kikuyus are uniting to remove Ruto in 2027. Nothing more. Nothing less. This is a suicidal scheme revealed too early. I am a Valley Kikuyu and I will lead the rebellion against GEMA unity. Kikuyus are different. Valley Kikuyus will not be used by Mt Kikuyus," he said on X.

His remarks come amid talks of growing differences between the President and his deputy.

The alleged silent rift between Ruto and Gachagua has caused divisions in the Mount Kenya region to deepen.

Allies of the DP now claim there are influential people within the State House “sponsoring” youthful leaders from the region to undermine Gachagua’s authority.

However, on Sunday, the State House denied there was a fight between the President and the deputy President.

“To the best of my knowledge, there is no issue between the President and his Deputy,” State House, spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said.

On Tuesday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua alleged that some individuals are being used to divide Mount Kenya.

He did not name the said individuals or the person sponsoring them to spearhead the divisions.

“For those who want to be used to divide us, continue, but our people are wise and they can see what is happening and when the right time comes for people to make a judgement, that's when those being used will know that the people of Mount Kenya are wise enough,” Gachagua said.

The absence of Gachagua from key state functions raised eyebrows among Kenyans as it was uncharacteristic of him.

He, however, made a public appearance Sunday when he attended a church service in Nyeri.
