Six people from the same family died Monday evening in an accident at Mumberes area along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway.
The matatu they were travelling in towards Eldoret collided head-on with a lorry that was heading to Nakuru.
Mumberes area chief Nicholas Rotich said the matatu was carrying mourners who were headed for a funeral in Kakamega county.
Four people who were injured in the accident were taken to Eldoret for treatment.
