Youth have been urged to be at the forefront of making key decisions pertaining to leadership in the country.
Willie Sigei has said youth have only been seen at the forefront during protests and causing mayhem during and after elections.
Sigei is the Office of Registrar Political Parties (ORPP) Western region representative.
Speaking at Sosa cottage in Hamisi Subcounty, Sigei urged youth to take part in political matters within their parties.
This, he said, would ensure they are at the helm of decision-making in the country.
Sigei was addressing youth drown from various political parties within Vihiga county.
"Youths have been left out for long in political matters and decision-making in this country. There is need for you to wake up and be part of the leadership," Sigei said.
"As the ORPP, we want youth to be on the front line in this political matters whether in a party or not," he added.
He said there is need for the young people to take leadership within their parties to give them voices to speak on the country's decision-making.
He said once youth will have their own opportunity to raise their voice they will be able to address their political problems.
Sigei said youth have the capability to handle their political issues if given a chance.
"As the ORPP, we want youth to be at the forefront of decision-making seeking elective positions and even the nomination as well," he posed.
"Those parties that don't comply with those Acts protecting the minority shall be forced to comply," he added.
A section of youth attending the sensitisation forum decried financial crisis is the major reason why they aren't able to contest for political positions in this country.
In a joint voice, they said most political parties' affairs are managed by those who formed them and youth are left at the tail end.
"Yes the ORPP might have waived the fee for contesting for those positions as indicated but how many youth or people with disabilities are able to raise the money?" one of the youth questioned.
