President William Ruto has told off people who have been telling him to think about his re-election, whenever he makes decisions affecting the country.

Speaking at the Africa CEO Forum in Rwanda, Ruto said that he was not elected to get re-elected, but to transform the country.

The Head of State insisted that leading is about making the right decisions for your people.

"I am always challenged because when I make the right decisions, people always tell me, you have to think about your re-election and I keep reminding them that I was not elected to be re-elected. I was elected to transform the country," Ruto said.

He went on to say that whenever he speaks in some forums, he is always reminded by certain individuals that he should say less so as not to annoy the people.

Ruto, however, said it is in his place to tell the truth and what is right.

He added that he is also aware that what is right might not be popular.

"When I speak in some fora, people come to me and whisper to me don't say too much because these people might get annoyed with you and I ask myself, it’s not in my place to say what people want to hear or what is popular, it is in my position to say what is right.

" What is right is not necessarily popular and it is the conversation we are having in Kenya," Ruto said.

The President left the country on Friday morning to attend the annual CEOs summit in Rwanda.

The Summit brings together business leaders and investors from across the globe.

He jetted back on Friday evening.

On the sidelines, Ruto also held bilateral engagements with leaders from other countries.
