The Kenya Wildlife Services has said that there were no lions sighted in Langata after reports from the community.

This is after claims of lions allegedly sighted near Langata Women's Prison in Nairobi.

KWS said they mobilised a team to search for the lions but none was spotted.

"The KWS Problem Animal Control team promptly mobilised and conducted a thorough search of the area throughout the night. Despite their efforts, no lions were found," KWS said in a statement.

They, however, said the team is monitoring the situation closely and are on high alert.

"Ensuring the safety of the public is our top priority."

They further urged residents to stay vigilant and report any wildlife sightings to the KWS 24- hour hotline number 0800 597 000 or WhatsApp 0726 610509 for immediate intervention.
