Three-time world 1,500m champion Faith Kipyegon now says that she is back to full training, after experiencing an issue with her muscle.

In a statement on Wednesday, Kipyegon said the muscle issue was handled well and she is now back to training.

The record holder noted that she has been building superbly, for the 2024 season as well, as she will commence her season in the next one month.

Her first challenge of the season will be at the trials for the Olympic games.

"I’ve been building in a great way lately for a beautiful season ahead. Some weeks back, I got a small muscle problem that was handled well," Kipyegon said on X.

"I’m now back in full training, focussing on starting my season in four weeks' time at the Kenyan Trials for the Olympic Games," Kipyegon said.

Her update comes even as she is expected to run the 5000m at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene on May 25.

Kipyegon will be returning to the 12-lap event almost a year after she broke the world record over the distance at the Wanda Diamond League in Paris last season.

This will be the first time the two-time Olympic champion will participate this season after withdrawing from the women’s 1500m at the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen, China last month.

Kipyegon stunned the world and wrote herself indelibly into the athletics history books when she broke three world records in the space of just a month in the Wanda Diamond League in 2023.

She posted the 1500m (3:49.11) triumph in Florence and followed it up with a 5000m (14:05.20) record in Paris. She later wrapped up the season with a mile record  (4:07.64) in Monaco.

The 5000m record, however, lasted for three months before being eclipsed by Gudaf  Tsegay in the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon in September.
