President William Ruto now says that his administration is 80 per cent done onboarding government services on digital platform.

Speaking on Monday, Ruto said that he is very happy with the progress his administration has made so far.

He made the remarks during the opening of the Connected Africa Summit 2024, at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi.

The President said his government made a deliberate decision that technology will form the core of Kenya's transformation and that it is coming to pass.

"As a country we made a very conscious decision that technology is going to inform the way we transform our country. We set out in the last one and a half years to put all government services on digital platform," Ruto said.

"I am very happy that we are 80 per cent on the way to making sure that every all government services is on the digital platform," the President added.

In December last year, the Secretary to the Cabinet, Mercy Wanjau said that over 16,000 state services were available on the eCitizen platform.

In a letter to all Cabinet Secretaries, Wanjau gave them a December 31 deadline to have all government services on e-Citizen.

She also asked them to take the lead in creating awareness within their dockets about e-Citizen and the importance of compliance.

"This includes informing stakeholders about the over 16,000 services currently available on the platform," the letter from the Secretary to Cabinet, Mercy Wanjau reads.

Wanjau is also the chairperson of the e-Citizen Implementation Committee (e-CIC).

"Ensuring that compliance with the directive remains a standing agenda item in all relevant meetings held within your portfolio," she said.

Wanjau said this will ensure consistent progress and accountability towards achieving the onboarding deadline.
