How fuel will retail in five major towns

Epra reviewed the prices on Sunday and slashed costs per litre by up to Sh18.

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority on Sunday reviewed fuel prices and sslashed the cost per litre by up to Sh18.

Epra said a litre of Super petrol has decreased by Sh5.31, diesel by Sh10 per litre while Kerosene has gone down by Sh18.68 per litre.

The new peices will take effect at midnight on April 14, through to midnighet, May 14, 2024.

In Nairobi, super petrol will retail at Sh193.84, Diesel at Sh180.38 and Kerosene at Sh170.06.

The prodcuts are currently retailing at Sh199.15, Sh190.38 and Sh188.74 for super petrol, diesel and kerosene respectively in the city.

Mombasa residents will purchase super petrol at Sh190.66, Diesel at Sh177.21 and Kerosene at Sh166.99.

In Nakuru, super petro will go for Sh192.90, Diesel at Sh179.82 while Kerosene will retail at Sh169.56.

Super petrol will retail at Sh193.67, diesel at Sh180.59 and kerosene at Sh170.32 in Eldoret.

Residents in Kisumu will purchase petrol at Sh193.66, diesel will retail at Sh180.59 and Kerosene at Sh170.31

Epra said the prices are inclusive of the 16 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.

In last month's review, in mid March, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) reduced petrol pump price by Sh7.21 per litre.

Earlier, President William Ruto said there would be a decrease in fuel prices by Sh10.

Speaking during Sunday service at ACK St Peter's Cathedral in Nyeri, Ruto said the prices will come down by Sh10, a milestone that will push the country forward, he said.

"Today the price of Unga which was Sh200 is almost hitting Sh100, the shilling has strengthened against the dollar," he said.

"Fuel prices were up but today it is going down with Sh10. All this is because we are making the right decisions and not popular decisions," the President said.
