Barcelona Ladies coach Emman Wafula has attributed their 4-0 win over hosts Kartville FC in the Chapa Dimba Central region semifinals to tactical ingenuity.

The semis were held on Saturday at Wang'uru stadium in Kirinyaga County.

Calta Nasambu led the charge with a brace followed by strikes from Floise Matendechere and Naomi Masinde to secure the Laikipia-based squad a spot in the regional finals scheduled for Sunday, March 24.

"Today, I opted for a 4-3-3 formation, emphasising midfield control to adapt to the expansive pitch," Wafula said after the match.

"Our strong point is the midfield. We have quick midfielders who have great distribution. Our attackers are also quick."

Despite the win, Wafula acknowledged that there was pressure from the physically imposing home team at the initial stages of the game.

"In the first 10 minutes, our players felt the heat, facing a formidable physical challenge. However, they settled into the game, showcasing resilience and composure," she said.

While commenting on Sundays final clash, Wafula exuded confidence in clinching a third successive title.

"If the players rest well and go into tomorrow's games with the same mentality as today, we are assured of a win. We want to win a third title," she stated.

Barcelona ladies won the title in 2019, beating the then-defending champions Limuru Starlets 2-1.

Singling out star forward Nasambu for her outstanding performance, Wafula lauded her versatility and goal-scoring prowess, expressing hope for a repeat display in the finals.

"In all our games she is always vital. She can score from far and from close range. Today she had an incredible game. I hope she repeats the same tomorrow," Wafula said.

Nasambu reflected on her stellar performance and exuded confidence that she will replicate the same during Sunday's finals.

"Despite facing tough defenders, I managed to find the net twice. My aim now shifts to the finals, where I aspire to make an even greater impact," she said.

The newcomers edged out Kiambu's Kiwanja Queens 4-3 on penalties to achieve the unprecedented feat.

St Joseph's coach, Geoffrey Musyoki, boldly declared his team's readiness to dethrone their seasoned opponents.

"We are entering the final with a winning mindset. Despite Barcelona's prowess on this stage, we are poised to shutter their dreams of a third title," Musyoki affirmed.

Meanwhile, Lysa FC beat Karatina Homeboyz 4-1 on penalties to proceed to the finals where they will take on M-Pesa Foundation.

M-Pesa Foundation edged out Kiaga Secondary 2-0 courtesy of goals from Victor Mungara and Emmanuel Mangera.

Acknowledging Lysa's strategic brilliance, M-Pesa Foundation's head honcho, George Ouma, exuded confidence in his squad's ability to advance.

"Lysa is formidable, but our focus is on victory," affirmed Ouma, whilst beaming with determination.

He added, "Lysa pushed Karatina to the brink, but we are prepared for any challenge that comes our way."
