Chief Magistrate Martha Koome has sent a message of condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of late Resident Magistrate Jacqueline Muthoni Ojwang'.

She expressed her sorrow, describing Ojwang' as a woman who was not only a professional but a friend to many within the Judiciary and a person who was known for her kindness, generosity, courage, warmth, and wisdom, which touched many lives".

"On behalf of the Judiciary, the Judicial Service Commission, and myself, I extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, colleagues, and friends. As we share in your grief, we pray for strength and solace in this trying time," she said.

Before her death, Ojwang' was serving at Butere Law Courts and had previously worked at Kibera and Thika Law Courts.

On January 16, 2023, she was among four Resident Magistrates designated as adjudicators in any proceedings under the Small Claims Court Act by CJ Koome.

They served for a year which lapsed on January 16, 2024.

During her time a Kibera Law Courts in 2022, she handled cases including a woman who had allegedly threatened to chop up her aunt, a man who allegedly stole cash from a company and went back to seek employment.

She also heard a case where a man was accused of threatening to strangle his wife to death and burn her body.

She was then transferred to Butere Law Courts.
