Details have now emerged of a meeting between Wiper leader and Kanu's Gideon Moi, at his Kabarak home on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Kalonzo was accompanied by a host of Azimio principals including Eugene Wamalwa (DAP-Kenya) and Mwangi wa Iria (Usawa kwa Wote).

According to the Kanu Political affairs secretary Fred Okang'o, the meeting was not in any way political.

He insisted that any stories on the meeting related to the 2027 politics are all made up.

Okang'o also clarified that while many people claim that Gideon Moi had disappeared from politics, what the Kanu party leader did was take a break from active politics, after the 2022 election.

"Gideon Moi never disappeared, he took a break from politics. And the meeting that happened in Kabarak was not a political meeting for your information. So when people start making up stories it is unfortunate," he said on Citizen TV.

The meeting between the opposition leaders has been seen as part of moves by Kalonzo to strengthen the opposition coalition, with Raila Odinga set to exit the local political stage for the African Union Commission job.

Kalonzo is seen as the person likely to take over the Azimio leadership with Raila's exit.

He has been traversing the country as he seeks to consolidate his support base early.

This is despite fears of a possible split, should Raila get the AU Commission job next year.

Moi has kept a relatively low profile since Azimio lost the August 2022 presidential contest to President William Ruto.

He has also not been actively participating in opposition activities and he rarely makes public appearances.

The Kanu leader only uses his social media pages to comment on national and social issues affecting our country.
