Azimio Leader Raila Odinga on Friday affirmed that the country's opposition will not back down on its oversight role even in his absence.

The Azimio boss told his support base in Nyanza that should he be elected the Chairperson of the African Union Commission next year, his troops will still push on with oversight of government.

"I am ready to work with you people. What is important is that we must ensure that what we set out to is eventually achieved,"  Raila told his troops.

Raila said the opposition will remain "unbwogable and unpangarable", rubbishing suggestions that his absence will see Azimio weakened and vulnerable.

"Some of you might be forgetting, we said that we are unbwogable. We are also unpangarable. We cannot be pangad. We are unbwogable therefore have no fear at all, we are unbwogable and we will get there," Raila said.

Speaking when he addressed delegates at the Homa Bay second investment conference, Raila appeared to laugh off claims by some Kenya Kwanza top dogs that his AU bid is part of the plan to manage him off the 2027 race.

Raila has previously used the term 'unbwogable'- loosely translated to mean unbeatable - whenever he treasures the supporters of his determination to fight on.

President William Ruto had on Tuesday said he was fulfilling his promise to the people of Homa Bay during the campaigns that his government would be all-inclusive.

“I told you when I was speaking at the market near here but you didn’t believe me then….I remember telling you that we want to unite the country, we want to work together for the unity of Kenya.”

“I said I will plan and as you can see and let us pray."

President Ruto added that he wanted a win-win outcome for everyone, even those in the opposition who felt left out.

“There is room for all of us in Kenya, you don’t win by making others lose…those in opposition must mean well for Kenya, those in government must mean well for Kenya…there are no citizens who are in opposition…it is only these leaders who have a job in Parliament…all Kenyans are on the same side.”

Both Ruto and Raila spoke days after meeting Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni in Uganda over the Azimio leader's AU bid.
