Construction of 64 ultramodern market in Eldoret on course

The state-of-the-art market will have two basements, 210 parking slots and daycare facilities

Plans to put up a Sh1.5 billion ultra-modern market in Eldoret town is on course, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has said.

The project, jointly funded by the national and county government is expected to address the space challenge.

The state-of-the-art market will have two basements, 210 parking slots, three cold rooms, 16 showers, 97 lavatories, lactation and daycare facilities.

This is in addition to  a food court, offices and meeting rooms.

"The market will accommodate more than 4,000 traders is carried out as intended in the construction plan," said the governor during a meeting with State Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The department was in the county to hand over of the construction of the 64 Ultra-Modern market to the contractor.

Bii called for efficiency and and maintenance of quality standards in the project.

The market is expected to attract local and international businesses with its ultra-modern design.

It will also create employment opportunities and nurture business for economic growth.

President William Ruto launched the construction on January 9.

He said plans to provide a conducive business environment for small-scale traders are on course.
