The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service has extended the placement application deadline.

In a statement on Sunday, the Service's CEO Mercy Wahome said the decision was made to ascertain that all targeted students have applied.

"Arising from the ongoing process, I wish to assure those who have not yet submitted their applications, and Kenyans in general, that the application deadline, which was set for February 26, 2024, has been extended until KUCCPS ascertains that all targeted students have applied," the statement reads in part.

Wahome reminded those using the portal to note that every student is a first-time applicant since KUCCPS discontinued applications at the school level.

She pointed out that the process of payment validation for the placement service is longer than it used to be, owing to the migration of government services to the eCitizen platform.

On the note, she advised applicants to avoid making double payments.

Wahome said the processing of applications for placement will start once KUCCPS is sure all applicants have submitted their course choices based on the targeted number of students.

"Therefore, no one will be disadvantaged on the basis of the day or time they made their applications," she assured.

After the first placement exercise, there will be two revision opportunities that will be provided for students who will not have applied, or those who will not have secured their selected courses, to reapply.

Wahome stated that the placement service is working closely with relevant stakeholders in the government to ensure that all applicants are enabled to submit their choices.

This is the state's spirit of leaving no student behind.

KUCCPS opened its portal for the application for placement of students to universities and colleges on February 7.

This is the second time the application deadline has been extended to ensure no candidate misses out.

The first time was on February 16, which announced the deadline as Monday, which has been extended.

Then, she said the number of applicants who had selected degree programmes was higher than those applying for TVET courses.

She encouraged those who scored mean grades between C and E to take advantage of the available TVET opportunities.

Those who need assistance applying can access the list of support centres available on the KUCCPS website www.kuccps.ac.ke.
