Social networks have become more important to journalists' work the world over with WhatsApp leading the pack in new dissemination.
Data from Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism indicates that WhatsApp remains the most popular platform at 61 per cent that most news outlets will be relying on in 2024.
It is followed closely by TikTok and Google search which remains critical for publishers in expanding publishers reach.
Others are YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, Apple News and Snapchat.
The data shows that most publishers have pretty much given up on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) who usage has dropped to -8 per cent and -11 per cent respectively.
