A woman has been charged at a Nairobi Court for allegedly defrauding a doctor Sh700,000 in a fake ruby business.
The court heard Janet Cheptoo Chepkorir allegedly defrauded Benson Muchiri Kabira on diverse dates between November 1st and 20th, 2023 contrary to the law.
The court heard that she allegedly committed the offence at his house in Ruai location, Njiru Sub-County.
The accused person who is a vetinary doctor allegedly obtained the said amount from the complainant and failed to deliver as agreed forcing the complainant to report the matter to the police station.
When arraigned before the court, she denied the charges and pleaded for a lenient bond term.
The prosecution did not object to her release on bond and told the court that it was ready to supply the accused person with all the witness statements and documentary evidence that the prosecution wanted to rely on during the entire trial.
The Makadara court magistrate released her on a cash bail of Sh150,000.
She directed that the matter be mentioned after two weeks and be heard on May 26.
