Two suspects Ian Osoro and Kevin Nyakwama have been arraigned over the allegation of abducting Ephantus Ngari on November 11, 2023, at Imara Daima.

The charge sheet presented before the court indicates the two allegedly committed the offence with the intent to have him secretly and wrongly confined.

When the two men were arraigned before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe on Monday, they denied having committed the offence.

They also pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing, where the court heard that following the alleged abduction, they stole Ngari's phone, a Nokia phone valued at Sh8,500.

Further, Osoro and Nyakwama also pleaded innocence in the alternative charge of handling stolen property.

In the alternative counts, in which the men were charged individually, Nyakwama is accused of dishonestly retaining the stolen phone.

On the other hand, Osoro is charged with dishonestly assisting in disposing of the phone knowing that it was stolen property.

Following their plea, Honorable Shikwe released them on a bond of Sh400,000 with an alternative of Sh200,000 cash bail.

The mention of pretrial directions will be on February 12.

The state has 13 witnesses awaiting to testify before the men if the case goes to trial.
