Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo has urged politicians from the region to form one political party to negotiate for national resources.

The governor who is also the United Progressive Alliance leader on Wednesday said it is important to have one political party from the region that will enable the area benefit from the national cake.

Nyaribo spoke in Nyamaiya ward when he presided over the Artificial Insemination and animal deworming exercise.  He said his party will soon start a recruitment drive to popularise it.

“We have seen other regions achieve a lot for their people simply because they are politically united. This unity is for the betterment of our people because if we go to negotiate for development and resources, we will be easily listened to compared to when we go as individuals,” Nyaribo said.

The county boss said it is time for the leaders to decide if the region will succeed or perish forever in politics and also in development. He said the region has many parties which should consider coming together and forming one party to drive their agenda going forward.

“If you look at regions which have leaders at the national level, they have made it because they decide to board one political vehicle to the level they are in now. This means we cannot be able to achieve more as other regions with the many political parties that we are in. Let us make one simple step that will help our region in the near future,” he said.

He urged residents and his supporters to turn up in large numbers during the recruitment drive and join UPA party.
