Internal divisions and backbiting has rocked a top government office. The genesis of the war is said to be the recent appointment of an ‘outsider’, who is now the main man at the office. Insiders said the infighting is so intense that some officials have opted to operate from their private offices and other government premises within Nairobi. The officials are reportedly scattered across the city, and only report to the work station for key meetings. One official who exiled himself is said to wait in his vehicle when he arrives early for meetings.

The procurement boss in one of the cosmopolitan counties is said to be dating a married woman who happens to be a supplier of commodities to the devolved unit. An insider said the man, who is also married, won the woman’s heart after he allegedly awarded her several lucrative contracts, despite her not being qualified. We are told the man has been using his office to entice women, and that it is only a matter of time before he dumps his latest catch for another beauty queen.

Still on wars, a nasty conflict has erupted between a governor from a county in Northeastern Kenya and area MPs. The hostility was triggered by remarks by the county boss that lawmakers from the region rarely travel to their respective constituencies, but are always claiming mileage. The governor has also been accusing the MPs of not doing anything for the electorate, and therefore have no moral authority to question his performance. The MPs have reportedly vowed to expose the governor’s inefficiencies and ensure he is not re-elected in 2027.

And in Nyanza region, a governor in one of the counties is a troubled man. The county boss has been claiming he has constructed over 100 Early Childhood Development Education classrooms in one year. Area MCAs are now demanding he shows them the new buildings. They are resolute that there is nothing to show on the ground and have since issued an ultimatum. The MCAs have given the county boss one month to give them the exact schools and the location where the classrooms were built so that they can go and confirm the same.
