The Postal Corporation of Kenya has laid out an elaborate logistical plan that will see it overcome geographical barriers in the distribution of free copies of the Star Newspaper.

Corporation's Postmaster General John Tonui said apart from the common road transport they also intend to use air.

"For us, we are well set. We have deployed all the resources to ensure the copies reach all corners of the Republic," he said.

"In areas where we cannot reach by road or air like the Mfangano Island, we shall use boats," he added.

Tonui was speaking when he visited the company's printing plant along Mombasa to inspect the process.

Present were RadioAfrica CEO Patrick Quarcoo, Group's Chief Operations Officer Martin Khafafa and his Star Newspaper counterpart Agnes Kalekye and Head of Content Paul Ilado.

The chief manager in charge of courier at the Postal Corporation Mukthar Abdulahi was also in attendance.

RadioAfrica entered into partnership with the courier service provider to distribute the 100, 000 copies every Tuesday.

Kalekye on her part termed the new venture as "exciting" for the readers urging them to take advantage of the opportunity.

"Newspaper has become a luxury...we understand what Kenyans are going through right now, they do not have money to buy it and so we sat down and agreed to distribute it free of charge because for us we are aiming at promoting readership," she said.

Printing was scheduled to be complete by 12am ahead of circulation.

The copies contain MyGov pullout which the Star won the tender to print and distribute every Tuesday.

My Gov is a government newspaper containing tenders and all government communications, including stories from different ministries.

It also includes news from government agencies, vacancies across state offices, stories on agriculture, and innovation, and top stories from counties, youth and parliamentary affairs, among others.
