Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Azimio chief Raila Odinga attend prayers in Kitui county on October 14, 2023.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka now says that he will not support a Raila Odinga presidential bid, should he decide to vie again in 2027.

According to Kalonzo, giving up his presidential bid again will mean he retires from politics.

He insisted that it was not an option for him.

Kalonzo added that President William Ruto should be ready for a formidable opponent in 2027.

"Giving up my presidential ambition (for Raila) will mean I go home. It's as simple as that. Giving up my presidential ambition is not an option. The country is saying so and this time he (William Ruto) better be ready. The country is seeing it, the stars are aligned," he said on NTV.

Kalonzo stated that Kenyans have been crying for an alternative to the current administration and at the right time, he will make an announcement.

"At the right time, we are going to make an announcement in the new year because I believe we have to create these two horserace. Kenyans are crying out for an alternative. They can't breathe."

The former Vice President said that he has been ready to take charge of the leadership of the country.

"I was ready in 2002 and 2013. Why do you think I will not be ready in 2027? When in fact the country seems to be speaking in unison. William Ruto himself announced my candidature in Homa Bay completely unsolicited. Even William Ruto might end up giving me his vote."

Kalonzo continues to front himself as the best person to take over the mantle in Azimio after Raila lost his fifth stab at the presidency.

He also announced plans to start early campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Leaders allied to his Wiper party also insist that he is the best man for the job.
