Giant microblogging site X (formerly known as Twitter) globally hit a technical snag around 9 am on Thursday, Downdetector.com has reported.
Downdetector tracks such outages by collating status reports from several sources including users.
Both the website and the mobile application showed ‘Welcome to your timeline’ instead of the regular tweets on the feed.
Users' timelines could not display messages no matter how many times one refreshed it.
Downdetector indicated that reports of problems appear to have started just before around 9 am.
So far, there is no indication yet of what might be causing the problem or how long it could take until service is restored.
This isn’t the first major outage for the site in recent days.
Another issue broke outgoing links for a couple of hours last week.
