Mwananchi Credit Limited was a big winner at this year's Pacesetter Awards Eastern Africa chapter which saw over 150 leading firms and 15 professionals in the continent honoured.
Mwananchi Credit was honoured as a pacesetter in Specialised Financial Solutions and also in Enhancing Credit Access in an event held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Mwananchi Credit Chief Executive Officer Dennis Mombo expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm for bagging the two awards.
"These awards hold significant meaning for us, as they symbolise our relentless pursuit of expanding credit access to everyone. We are immensely grateful to God and our clients for our journey thus far,” Mombo said.
Jubilant Stewards of Africa a Non-Governmental Organisation that champions the improvement of living standards, social ethics, dignity and empowerment of communities organised the event.
“Pacesetters Awards considers a range of quantitative and qualitative aspects to determine and honour the winners,” Jared Oundo, Executive Director of Jubilant Stewards of Africa said.
Oundo noted that a novel survey model was initiated in 2020 for the hyperinflationary environment.
“The model has since been tested and it demonstrated its functionality, elasticity, and robustness. Furthermore, models in various industries such as the financial sector were remodeled to enhance their significance to the current environment, enhance quality and increase the objectivity of results,” said.
The Pacesetters Award seeks to celebrate key industry leaders for their innovation, quality products, and service delivery, job creation, exemplary leadership, growing the economy, and transforming the society.
Other winners included; Ena Coach, Tuko News Media, Momzy Network, Regional Leasing firm Vehicle and Equipment Leasing Ltd (VAELL), Rentco Africa Limited, Amcco Properties Limited, Kyoga Hauliers Ltd, Westlands Laser Eye Hospital, Tanzania’s Inter-Consult Limited Tanzania, Trinity Express Bus Rwanda and Admission World Consult Ghana.
Others were 101 Properties Kenya, Dafari Properties Limited Kenya, GF Trucks and Equipment Limited Tanzania, Global Chemicals (U) Limited Uganda, German Institute of Professional Studies, Certified Homes Ltd, Universal Network for Knowledge and Empowerment Agency South Sudan (UNKEA) and Sun FM and TV Zambia.
Some of the personalities awarded include; Toyi A. Ruvumbangu of Tanzania’s top bank CRDB, Vaibhav Pednekar , the CEO Westlands Laser Eye Hospital as the Surgeon of the Year, Margaret N Njihia – Pacesetter in Mental Health Advocacy and Hezekiah Kariuki - CEO of the year.
Kotni Sudeept Kumar was awarded Young entrepreneur of the year and Chef Geoffrey Tumukunde as Chef of the year among others.
Mwananchi Credit was hailed for its commitment to expanding access to credit for individuals across the region.
The awards are based on the economic and social impact rather than the balance sheet.
The event brought together firms from more than 15 countries in Africa including top SMEs and mid-sized institutions.
Pacesetters Award (PSA) is an annual Industry Leadership Recognition programme.
