Thirdway Alliance Party leader Ekuru Aukot has said he is happy that Kenyans will elect their leaders more wisely moving forward.

Speaking on Thursday, Aukot said he now hopes that going forward Kenyans will cautiously interrogate people who will come seeking to lead them.

He said it was time Kenyans started questioning the honesty and real intentions of politicians.

"I hope beginning of 2024 going forward, Kenyans will open their eyes and begin to interrogate people who come to tell them I want to lead you and give you a good future and also question the honesty of politicians," he said on Citizen TV.

Aukot went on to state that some leaders in Kenya Kwanza have never lost an election since 1997.

"These are not newcomers in government, they have been in leadership for the longest time, especially President William Ruto. He's the longest-serving elected politician in the history of Kenya.

"When he tells you I have a plan I'm going to fix things, there is a reason to believe him because he has been there as an activist before he was elected in 1997 and thereafter as Cabinet minister and all that," Aukot said.

The Kenya Kwanza administration campaigned on a platform of change from high taxation and reducing debt, as well as helping 'hustlers' get jobs and start businesses.

The administration has also increased taxes by introducing new levies on various products, charging for government services that were free and also increasing charges for select services.

The government has also been receiving loans from organisations like the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
