Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassan Guyo has refuted claims that he has called for the arrest of bloggers.

In a statement on Thursday, the Governor termed the reports as misleading.

“It is crucial to clarify that as the Governor of Isiolo, My office has always welcomed objective criticism,” Guyo said.

The county chief also said that he has never interfered with the Freedom of Expression of any Kenyan as highlighted in Article 33 of the constitution.

“My commitment to freedom of expression remains unwavering but ethical journalism is crucial,” Guyo said.

A media report on Wednesday indicated that the Governor had called for the arrest of bloggers in the county.

The report claimed the Governor had called for the arrest of bloggers attacking Isiolo leaders online.

The report quoted Isiolo Deputy Governor James Lowasa saying that the bloggers were a threat to service delivery.

“ Those responsible should be identified and action taken against them. Even at your home, if you allow someone to cook for you, do not disrupt them because you might be served with raw food,” the report quoted.
