ICPAK honours EACC Director Lolkoloi with fellowship award

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) has honoured EACC's Director of Ethics and Leadership CPA John Lolkoloi, OGW for his dedication and outstanding contribution to the growth of the profession.

ICPAK conferred CPA Lolkoloi with the Award of Fellowship and admitted him to the College of Fellows of the Institute.

The honour now means that can now he can use the designation prefix “FCPA” against his name.

"CPA Lolkoloi is a member of the Institute in good standing with over 24 years of experience in accounting, audit, taxation and forensic investigations," ICPAK said.

"For his contribution towards the profession, CPA John Mariwan Lolkoloi is hereby conferred with the Award of Fellowship and admitted to the College of Fellows of the Institute and admitted to the College of Fellows of the Institute."

Lolkoloi is currently the Director, of Ethics and Leadership at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), a position he has held since January 2022.

Previously Lolkoloi served as the Deputy Director in charge of Forensic Investigations at EACC where he worked for seven years managing forensic investigation teams.

CPA John Lolkoloi joined the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission (KACC) now EACC 2005 as a Financial Forensic Investigator (Tax Expert) 2005 and rose to the position of Deputy Director.

As a case officer, he investigated several corruption and economic crime matters and testified in various courts leading to the conviction of accused persons and recovery of corruptly acquired public property.

Before joining EACC CPA John Lolkoloi worked for 6 years at the Kenya Revenue Authority(KRA) as an accountant, and internal auditor and by the time he left KRA in 2005, he was a SeniorRevenue Officer at the Large Taxpayers Office (LTO).

CPA John has been an active member of ICPAK where he previously served as a member of the Disciplinary Appeals Committee of the Institute.

He has facilitated in ICPAK seminars the areas of anti-corruption, leadership and governance and mentored accountants at the Commission to take up forensic investigation work.

He is part of several accountants at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission who have excelled in conducting investigations on complex corruption and economic crimes that have led to the prosecution of culpable persons and recovery of corruptly acquired assets.

On numerous occasions, he has testified in court on complex financial crime cases using accounting and auditing expertise leading to great reliance in court for such testimony.

In recognition of outstanding and dedicated service to the nation, he received a presidential award -Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya (OGW) in 2019.

He further received a commendation award from the Institute in 2020 in recognition of service rendered to the accounting profession.

CPA Lolkoloi has undertaken various leadership and management trainings including the International Visitor Leadership Program(IVLP) USA, Strategic Leadership and corporate governance and has facilitated several trainings on the fight against corruption, ethics and integrity among others.

CPA Lolkoloi holds a Master of Business Administration MBA (Strategic Management) from Daystar University and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Nairobi.

He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Others accorded similar honours are CPA Edwin Njamura who is currently serving as the Director of Corporate Services(DCS) at Capital Markets Authority (CMA).

ICPAK said CPA Edwin has played a pivotal role in transforming the Authority into a world-class regulator. 

CPA Meshack Matengo, CPA Dalton Mwaghogho James, CP Agnes Ogada and CPA Kang’e Saiti among others were also honoured with the fellowship award.
