Milimani Children's Court on Monday also ordered that Jan In't Veld alias Dad ok alias Teacher Jan alias Mzungu deposit his passport in court.

The court noted that the Mzungu's visa had expired when he was arrested at JKIA and also that he has travelled to over 100 countries.

"The prosecution's objection for bond was not unfounded as the man could be at risk of flight. I hereby release the accused on a Sh2 million bond and two Kenyan sureties with no option of a cash bail ", the magistrate ruled.

The court further cautioned the accused not to be in contact with witnesses and cooperate with investigators.

The case will be heard on January 9, 2024.

Last Friday, Mzungu denied committing an indecent act with a child contrary to section 11 of the sexual offences Act.

The charge sheet states that between April 2022 and June 2022 within Turbo Sub County in Uasin Gishu County, he intentionally, unlawfully, and indecently touched the genitals of a male minor aged 16 years.

Mzungu was also charged with intentionally and unlawfully communicating with a minor through WhatsApp in a manner intended to encourage the minor to communicate sexually.

Further, he faced another charge of sharing pornographic images and videos with the minor through his WhatsApp account intending to encourage the minor to engage in sexual acts.

Mzungu was charged with Child abuse where the prosecution alleged that between January 16 and May 26, 2022, Mzungu intentionally and unlawfully received obscene images of minors aged 10 and 7 years for sexual gratification.

The prosecution had opposed the release on bond of the accused stating that he was a flight risk.
