Siaya Governor James Orengo is among leaders who have accompanied President William Ruto for his two-day state visit to India.

This is despite Orengo being an Opposition party governor and in many instances a critic of President Ruto.

He was among three governors who accompanied the president alongside Governors Stephen Sang (Nandi) and Hillary Barchok (Bomet).

Together with Ruto, the governors representing the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) met the Chief Executive Officer of Procorp Enertech Private Limited, exploring investment areas.

"Procorp Enertech Private Limited committed to investing in transport infrastructure in the region to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth," the PCS said.

Orengo said the LREB signed several MoUs during the trip that will benefit all Lake region counties.

"The MOUs by LREB are one to establish a Solar Energy Park with a capacity of 280MW with each of the 14 counties getting between 10-50MW while the second one seeks to extend the SGR from Naivasha to Malaba corridor but at its core is interlinking railway network that connects the 14 LREB counties," he said on X.

While Orengo is a critical figure in Opposition politics, he has previously promised to work with Ruto to develop the country and Siaya County.

After information about the visit to India went public, here is what Kenyans had to say:
