Checkups Medical Hub is set to launch its door-to-door healthcare facility in Lamu.

This follows the initial signing up of 400 households due to increased demand for quality healthcare services in the county.

Speaking to KNA during the launch of the tech-enabled nurse and doctor dispatch service in Lamu Island, Checkups Medical Centre CEO Dr Moka Lantum said the facility intends to provide health services by reaching residents at home.

“Our intention is to bring services closer to the people to reduce costs and long distance travels, “he said.

Dr Moka further said the dispatch facility will prioritise the improvement of public health systems through partnerships with the county government, which is providing the Afya Mashinani Initiative.

He said health facility offers services ranging from diagnosing, testing, procurement and delivery of medical drugs to residents.

“Our vision for Lamu is to provide affordable healthcare services by creating an efficient and appropriate health system that improves the health of individuals and populations in the low and middle classes within the county,” Moka said.

Lamu Governor Issa Timamy welcomed the initiative saying the model is a noble cause towards the county’s pursuit to offer affordable healthcare services for residents.

He urged Checkups Medical Hub to expand their scope and cover Hindi, Mokowe and Mpeketoni towns, which he said have great potential for affordable healthcare cover.
