A man has been charged at a Kibera court with several criminal counts including robbery with violence, and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Duncan Chanzu was charged before Chief Magistrate Ann Mwangi where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the charge sheet, while armed with a gun, he robbed Patrick Ochieng of a Safari bag, a phone worth Sh 27,500 and his wallet.

He was again charged in the second count that, on November 11, he was found illegally possessing a fully loaded firearm which he wanted to use against the complainant.

He was also charged with the third charge of round 9mm of ammunition contrary to the law.

He denied both the charges and pleaded for a lenient bond term.

He was released on a Sh500,000 bond.

The case will be mentioned later this month for pre-trial.
