"Your presence will contribute to the realization of a much-needed facility for the young talents," Abdirahman said.

Media personality and Head of Rig East Africa Cynthia Nyamai commended the Movement for the overwhelming support.

"We thank them so much for the support because the team will be also joining us for the Friday walk from Mombasa to Mikindani," Nyamai said.

She said work on the pitch involves the construction of a football stadium facility complete with bleachers all around the pitch, teams changing for both boys and girls, ablution facilities for both girls and boys, stadium lighting, drainage facilities, anti-climb fencing around the pitch, complete marking of the pitch to approval, pitch accessories including goal posts.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Thursday last week.

Nyamai said she has offered to walk a total of 488 KM from Mombasa to Nairobi in 14 days to raise funds and awareness of the project.

"From December 1 to 15 I will be walking 488 KM. The project we are calling hashtag 488 for Kibra," Nyamai said.

Nyamai said  Kibra will no longer be the biggest slum in East Africa but the rising of Africa.

School Principal Olympic Primary Kibra Silas Opiyo said the school's population is 5,500 and coordination can present a huge challenge to the school.

The project is said to be completed in January 2024  before schools reopen.
