Police are today expected to produce in court former South C MCA Osman Khalif who had allegedly been abducted two weeks ago.

That is after Osman appeared in public for the first time on Wednesday following the alleged abduction.

The court had on Monday directed DCI chiefs to come to court and explain the whereabouts of the former MCA before lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi came out in public with him.

DCI Nairobi regional coordinator Peter Njeru had on Monday last week told Justice Chacha Mwita that they were investigating the incident.

He asked the court for more time saying detectives intended to carry out a cyber analysis at the scene of the alleged abduction to identify any other number that would have been at the scene at that time.

"We appreciate the effort you have made but this is a citizen. And the accusation before us is that it's the police," said the Judge.

Njeru requested they be given more time to probe the matter.

They were given until November 27 to come to court and confirm whether they had found Osman or not.

Meanwhile, Ahmednasir who took to X to announce Osman's resurfacing claimed it was the police who had abducted him.

“Mr Osman, the former MCA for South C, was abducted by policemen under the command of a powerful politician two weeks ago. Osman visited me in my law chambers today and narrated his heart-wrenching ordeal,” Ahmednasir claimed.

“They held him for eight days and tortured him brutally. Apparently, this powerful politician has special policemen from his tribe under his command and are independent of the normal police command structure,” he said in a post on X on Wednesday as he posed a photo with him.

Elsewhere, five suspects who had been arrested in connection with the theft of Sh94.9 million belonging to Quickmart Supermarket will be charged today.

The five had been detained for 10 days pending investigations.

They will be joined by another four suspects who were arrested over the weekend.

The four are employees of the firm that ferried the cash and are believed to have been involved in the execution of the heist.
