The ODM party has postponed its recruitment drive in Nairobi which was initially scheduled to be done on Friday, November 24.

In a statement to newsrooms Thursday afternoon, the ODM party chairman in Nairobi County George Aladwa said the process has been postponed to Thursday, December 7, 2023.

"Our party leader Raila Odinga will preside over the recruitment drive and the venue will be communicated," he said.

Raila announced on November 10 that the party would embark on a nationwide recruitment in a bid to enhance ODM's image ahead of the 2027 polls.

He said the recruitment would begin in Siaya County on November 11 before spreading to other counties.

"We will do the same exercise in Homa Bay on Monday and then Migori, Kisii, Nyamira and Kisumu to complete the Nyanza region but the exercise will be launched across the country," Raila said in a video posted on his X platform.

The recruitment is expected to be concluded in March 24 with a culmination of party grassroots elections.

The decision to hold the grassroot polls was reached during the National Executive Committee meeting in November, the party said on November 11.

"This will be a build-up to the much anticipated party and is aimed at rejuvenating and re-energising the party," the statement read.

The grassroot elections will be preceded by an overhaul of the ODM National Election Board between February and March.

Currently office holders are Nominated Senator Catherine Mumma (chair) and members Emily Awita, Richard Tairo, Syntei Nchoe and Abdulahi Diriye.
