In Summary

  • It is unfair for Raila to use propaganda that he himself knows is not true to call for resignation of such senior officers.
  • In fact, if the government would not have entered the G-to-G deal, things would have been worse today.

It is very unfortunate that a leader of the stature of Raila Odinga, who has deep experience in government having served as Prime Minister, makes such remarks.

It is absurd for Raila, who has himself served as Cabinet Secretary or Minister, to call for the resignation of serving Cabinet Secretaries for what he has not confirmed.

It is unfair for Raila to use propaganda that he himself knows is not true to call for the resignation of such senior officers.

Further, it is very unfortunate that this country has fallen too low in terms of politicians in the opposition trying to get relevance from things they know are irrelevant and absurd, and which they know only serve their interest and not the national interest.

Someone would expect that somebody who has knowledge and experience like Raila Amollo Odinga would understand the simple dynamics of economic stabilisation through fiscal and monetary policies such as the ones that were applied in the government-to-government procurement of petroleum products.

It is our national duty to be patriotic and nationalist to the extent where we are able to isolate cheap politics from economic measures that ensure Kenyans do not continue suffering, because that is what is called to be a leader.

As I had already indicated, the reason why the government opted for the G-to-G arrangement was to cushion the country against the shortage of dollars.

In fact, if the government would not have entered the G-to-G deal, things would have been worse today.

And as a leader, Raila Odinga would have sought advice from his experts on what this was all about and how it helped stabilised the economy.

Otherwise, what’s he is doing now is pure politics which is not healthy for our country at this time when we are facing many challenges.

As a leader, Raila should put the national interest ahead of personal interest. This arrangement was all about the national interest.
