Jenny Da Rin has been appointed the new Australian High Commissioner to Kenya to replace outgoing envoy Luke Williams who has been at the held since 2020.
In a statement on Monday, Australia's Minister for Foreign Affairs Senator Penny Wong said Da Rin has also been seconded to the Federal Republic of Somalia, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania.
"Australia values its longstanding relationship with Kenya, based on our shared democratic values, commitment to multilateralism, and significant trade and cultural links," Wong said while announcing Da Rin's appointment.
Australia and Kenya share close cooperation across a wide range of areas including climate change, food security and multilateral fora.
Da Rin is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was most recently Assistant Secretary, Southeast Asia Development Policy and Programs Branch.
She has previously served as Australia's High Commissioner to Vanuatu, as well as in Ethiopia and Indonesia.
"I thank outgoing High Commissioner Luke Williams for his contributions to advancing Australia's interests in Kenya since 2020," Wong said.
