NYS announces four job vacancies for its graduates

The National Youths Service has announced four vacant positions, recommended for its graduates through industry linkages under the Employment and Liaison office.

In a statement, NYS said a leading company is seeking to fill positions of a facility assistant, handyman, supervisor and security assistant.

National Youth Service is not the recruiting firm as the positions are offered through industry linkages under the Employment and Liaison office.

"A leading business processing outsourcing company is currently searching for talent in the below-listed job opening which we highly recommend our graduates to apply," the NYS statement reads. 

For facility assistant, the candidate will be expected to monitor and oversee outsourced companies, ensure regular audits for service delivery and compliance with legislative requirements and industry standards.

The incumbent will also be expected to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with all the company’s staff, becoming a trusted partner in facility management among other responsibilities. 

The candidate should also have proficient coaching skills, including the ability to deliver constructive feedback.

The facility assistant must hold a diploma in a relevant business discipline, including engineering, architecture, business management, or supply chain and operations management and should have a minimum of 2 to 5 years of combined experience, both in the National Youth Service and the Corporate Industry.

In the handyman position, the candidate will be responsible for supporting facilities department functions and ensuring the provision of a comfortable workspace for employees, visitors, and outsourced services providers.

Must be a holder of a diploma in a technical discipline such as Electricals, Design Works, or Plumbing.

They will also execute preventive and proactive maintenance programmes to ensure the smooth operation of facilities and resolve facilities-related issues and challenges promptly and efficiently.

A candidate seeking a supervisor position, NYS says they will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and supporting the Facilities Department Functions ensuring the provision of a comfortable workspace for employees, visitors, and outsourced service providers

Supervisor candidates must have a minimum of 4 to 6 years of combined experience, either in the National Youth Service or within the Corporate Industry holding a similar role.

For the security assistant role, a candidate should hold a degree in Criminology and/or Security Studies. Possesses relevant certifications, including training in security models, and an additional diploma is considered an added advantage.

The incumbent should also demonstrate a minimum of 5 to 8 years of combined experience, including service in the Police Force and the Private Sector Corporate Security and Investigation industry.

Key responsibilities for the security assistant include monitoring the physical security and safety of employees, facilities /property, visitors, and outsourced security companies.
