A section of Muslims in Mombasa have called for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas as they plan a peace walk in solidarity with Palestine.

Kenya Muslim National Advisory Council yesterday said those suffering in the war are innocent old people, women and children.

Kemnac chair Sheikh Juma Ngao accused the US of pushing Israel to go to war with Palestine.

“Casualties are from both sides. They are not US children or UK women or UN old people. They are both Christians and Muslims in Gaza and Israel. Bombs and rockets do not choose who to kill,” Ngao said.

He said this as flyer went round in Mombasa urging the youth to walk from Mapembeni to Makadara ground on Saturday in solidarity with Palestine.

“The march is welcome for everyone,” a flyer read in part.

The Kemnac chair condemned leaders from the Arab world for their silence amid the war.

“They are afraid to speak out. The US is standing with the Jews in Israel and they are not afraid to say it. The Muslim world has not come out to stand with their own,” he said.

Ngao faulted Saudi Arabia for fighting with fellow Muslims in Yemen but failing to support Palestine in its war with Israel.

“We are surprised by the inaction of the leadership of the Arab world. They are a let-down to both the Arab World and the Arab Muslim,” Sheikh Ngao said.

Kemnac vice chair Abubakar Amin criticised Egypt for closing its borders to those fleeing the war.

He said this was a sign they are not willing to help fellow Muslims.

“Even Dubai has allowed US planes to land on their airports as they help Israel fight Palestines,” Amin said.

He said lack of unity in the Arabian world is a let-down to all Muslims in the world.

Ngao urged the International Criminal Court to issues arrest warrants against US President Joe Biden, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

He said the above are responsible for war crimes in Palestine.

“Why is it that when Russia invaded Ukraine the ICC was quick to issue a warrant of arrest against President Vladimir Putin? Almost one week later, the ICC is yet to speak on the atrocities in Gaza.” Ngao said.

He praised Turkey for standing firm and sending a war ship to show its readiness to defend its ally.

Ngao warned the world could easily descend into another war if the Israel and Palestine war is not taken care of.

“When this happens, there will be no winner. Only losers because no one will be spared,” he said.
