Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has expressed gratitude to President William Ruto for his additional new role saying it showed the Head of State has confidence in him.
Mudavadi promised to advance Kenya's national, regional and global interests as Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary.
"I want to thank the President for bestowing me additional responsibilities. It shows the confidence he has in me," he stated.
He said the two portfolios (Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs) complement each other.
Speaking at his Railways head office, Mudavadi said Kenya's foreign policy is an indispensable component in advancing growth and development.
"I will leverage our position as guarantor of regional peace. I will pursue free trade area and other regional economic blocks," he stated.
He promised to champion the interest of Kenyans in the diaspora."Whenever any Kenyan in the diaspora will be in distress, we deploy diplomatic tools to ensure protection of our people," he said.
"I shall promote and project the image of Kenya globally."
Outgoing Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS Alfred Mutua said he was proud to have led the ministry for a year.
"It was an honour to advance Kenya's interests on international scene. I championed for peace and security as well as regional development," he stated.
Mutua, who is now the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, said he is confident his former staff will accord Mudavadi the support he needs.
"My ministry will work together with Mudavadi to bring back tourism. I will be counting alot on you (Mudavadi)," he said.
He reiterated that his ministry will need a lot of support from the Office of Prime Cabinet Secretary and Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs to deliver.
