UDA secretary general Cleophas Malala has said that the ruling party will not support auditing of the 2022 general election.
The 2022 election audit was one of the demands by Azimio leader Raila Odinga as he called for nationwide anti-government protests.
Raila has been claiming that his victory was stolen and that an audit of the results would substantiate his claims.
Speaking on Tuesday at Bomas during the presentation of the UDA submissions to the National Dialogue Committee(NADCO), Malala said the issue of the 2022 election was already cleared.
"We are not in support of any audit. We support the enactment of the constitution that provides for which you think the 2022 general elections were not fair enough you have an opportunity to raise it with the IEBC. Which was already done," he said.
He said UDA supports the entrenchment of the Prime Cabinet Secretary's office and the office of the leader of the opposition.
Malala said the move to create the office will help to ensure inclusivity for all Kenyans.
The call to audit the 2022 election gained momentum after the clergy and Political Parties Liaison Committee joined the push during submissions at the NADCO.
PPLC said the audit will eliminate doubts about the results announced by IEBC.
However, Deputy President Rigathi Gachangua said the audit of the 2022 presidential election results should be dropped.
The DP said the 2022 presidential election was audited by the Supreme Court, which declared William Ruto validly elected.
"Discussing the 2022 presidential election should be dropped. Let them proceed with the other agenda. Let them talk about reconstituting IEBC, embedding the Office of Prime Cabinet Secretary and others," he said.
The bipartisan team on Monday agreed to have a law in place so that election servers are opened conclusion of a general election.
“I totally agree with this proposal that we need to make it law that servers be immediately opened after the election so that we conclude these elections conclusively,” EALA MP Hassan Omar said.
“We do not need to repeat ourselves constantly that after every election we are vilifying IEBC staff and Kenyans...in the lead up to the elections we are intimidating them, we are kidnapping them and we are murdering them."
