The government is progressively accelerating the implementation of its visionary blueprint for socio-economic empowerment and inclusive prosperity under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), the interior ministry has said.

The plan, according to the ministry, encompasses an array of transformative programmes and interventions designed to elevate every section of society.

Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo said they have set about cementing the position of the National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs).

The move is a driving force behind the strategic interventions and forges an environment where every single mwananchi will not only thrive but also contribute meaningfully to our collective prosperity.

He spoke while launching 30 Trainers of Trainers (ToTs), who will be taken through the organization and functions of government, security, peace and safety for citizens and most importantly, public participation, engagement, and communication.

The Deputy County Commissioners (DCCs), who were selected on merit, will also be trained on other cross-cutting issues.

Key among the issues are climate change, employee wellness and psychosocial support, after which they will be deployed to cascade the radical shift in mindset to all the ranks within the NGAOs structure.

He made the revelations when he officially opened training of TOTs in a programme to re-orient National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) on service delivery.

“Being the government’s first point of contact with the grassroots, this department plays a pivotal role in transforming service delivery and maximizing the impact of our targeted investments,” he said.

“As such, we have purposed to conduct a reorientation programme for these officers with the intent to infuse a lead-by-example mindset across the structure and ensure effective, efficient and responsive services at all levels."

He argued the motivation for this program is grounded in the fact that the ever-changing times call for renewed ways of doing things.

“That which worked yesterday may not always work today or even tomorrow,” he said.

“Our ultimate objective is to ensure that every interaction our administrators have with mwananchi is marked by empathy and a genuine understanding of their unique needs and concerns.”
