Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has congratulated Marathoner Eliud Kiopchoge for winning a record fifth title at the Berlin Marathon.
Kipchoge clocked 2:02:42 to ahead of compatriot Vincent Kipkemboi who clocked 2:03:13 while Ethiopia's Tadese Takele came in 2:03:24.
Kindiki described Kipchoge as the Greatest of All Time for raising the Kenyan flag high.
"Hail the King of Marathon Eliud Kipchoge! Winning the Berlin Marathon for a record fifth time in a time of 2 hours, 2 minutes, and 42 seconds confirms your status as the Greatest of All Time (G.O.A.T) and yet again raising the Kenyan flag even higher," he said.
Kindiki also congratulated Vincent Kipkemboi and Sheila Chepkirui, for finishing second in the men's and women's races in Berlin.
He said Kenyan sportsmen and women, particularly the athletes, remain Kenya's invaluable ambassadors.
"We salute them! Hongera Kipchoge and Kipkemboi!" He said.
Former Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa also congratulated the legendary runner.
"Well done Eliud Kipchoge for the stellar performance and winning the Berlin Marathon for the record 5th times now."
Kipchoge now becomes the first runner to have won the Berlin Marathon five times.
He is the current holder of the marathon world record, which he had set with a finish time of 2:01:09.
Speaking to the press after winning the race, Kipchoge said he had expected to break his 2022 record but experienced certain challenges on the way.
He, however, said his eyes are now set on the upcoming Paris Olympics in 2024.
"I was expecting to break the world record but it has not come as I expected and that is how sports is. I was in good shape but got some hiccups but it's normal in a race," Kipchoge said.
"I have won but I have not broken the world record. It's a learning process and the focus is putting that experience in next year's Paris Olympics. Every race is a learning curve," he added.
