Chair of the President's Council of Economic Advisors David Ndii on Thursday evening revealed how he inadvertently rubbed shoulders with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani in the US.

Ndii is in the US seemingly as part of President William Ruto's entourage at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly which opened on September 19.

"So, I'm sitting on a bus stand bench on 5th Avenue to get my googlemap coordinates and this mzee sits next to me and passers are asking for selfies. Takes a while for me to figure it Rudy Giuliani," Ndii said via his handle on X, formerly Twitter.

Giuliani served as the 107th mayor of New York City from 1994 to 2001.

Ruto addressed the international community during the morning session of the summit on Thursday, September 21, on measures it's taking to mitigate the effects of climate change.

He continued advocating for a fair global climate financial system that is favourable to both the rich and poor economies.

"Multilateralism has been failed by abuse of trust, negligence and impunity. A year ago, I stood in this assembly hall to call upon the global community to transform the UN system in order to achieve a consensus on the rules-based multilateral system which works for the people of the world in their diversity," Ruto said in his address.

"It's time for multilateralism to reflect the voice of the farmers, represent the hopes of villagers, champion the aspirations of pastoralists, defend the rights of fisherfolk, express the dreams of traders, respect the wishes of workers, and indeed protect the welfare of all peoples of the world," he added.

Several other leaders from a number of member states will also address the global community at the summit which runs until September 26.
