Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has commended police officers in the North Rift region for helping in the fight against insecurity.
In a statement on Monday, Kindiki said that the government will facilitate security officers to execute their mandate in protecting citizens and their property.
"Security officers from all the agencies working tirelessly and diligently to fight insecurity in the North Eastern Region and other parts of the Country are true heroes who deserve commendation. Some of our officers have even lost their lives and others injured by armed criminals," he said.
"No prize is enough to honour our patriotic officers for their diligence."
He said the government will avail modern equipment to protect police against armed criminals and combat complex security challenges.
Kindiki said that terrorism remains one of the key national security threats and that the government will triumph over terror.
"Parents and guardians must remain vigilant and counsel their children to resist radicalisation and recruitment into terror groups," he added.
He spoke after he operationalised Kotulo subcounty, in Wajir County, commissioned subcounty headquarters and installed Farah Hassan Mohamed as the first Deputy County Commissioner.
