At least 400 slots are up for grabs as the ICT Authority announces applications for the Presidential Digital Talent Programme (Digitalent).

In a notice on Tuesday, Stanley Kamanguya, CEO of the ICT Authority, has encouraged as many Kenyans to apply in time for the internship (Cohort VIII for the year 2023-24)

“Through the Presidential Digital Talent Internship Programme (PDTP), the Government of Kenya continues to produce highly skilled ICT labour for the industry. Therefore apply in time,” Kamanguya said.

The 12-month internship programme seeks to equip and prepare fresh ICT and engineering graduates with hands-on ICT Skills to improve their employability and entrepreneurship opportunities.

During the internship, the interns will acquire other non-digital digital skill sets such as critical thinking and entrepreneurial skills and those with innovations deepen their knowledge of ICT Innovation.

The 400 slots include 150 in Network and Infrastructure, Software development & Artificial Intelligence (100), information security (50), Multimedia targeting Graphic Design and Digital Marketing (50) and Data Analysis (50).

Kenyans have until October 3,  2023, to make the applications on digitalent.go.ke.

Women, persons with disabilities and persons from the ASAL region are encouraged to apply.

Upto date, the programme has trained more than 2,000 interns who have been absorbed in different sectors of the economy.

One of the Pillars of the Kenya National Digital Master Plan (2022-32) is that of Digital skills and this is a core ingredient required to run the Digital Economy as envisioned in the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda(BETA).

Digital Skills are a pre-requisite for benefitting from any technology, across all sectors of the economy and at all levels of the skills spectrum.

The pillar is focused on developing the requisite competencies and expertise required for the Digital Economy.

These skills will enable every Kenyan to access Digital technology, have digital literacy and so access and participate in the digital economy.
