A 38-year-old woman from Kagio town in Kirinyaga County is accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death before surrendering herself at Kagio police station shortly on Monday.

Moses Koskei, Kirinyaga West subcounty police commander, in a statement, said the suspect works as a barmaid in the trading center.

Koskei revealed that the victim was stabbed five times.

"Tragically, the man succumbed due to excessive bleeding and authorities have launched a thorough investigation to ascertain the motive behind the woman's actions,’ Koskei said.

Koskei further pointed out that the duo were residents of Gichugu constituency and had been renting a house along Baricho Road in the trading center.

The police boss said they are seeking assistance from the suspect to recover the murder weapon, a knife, which as of now, remains undiscovered.

“We are expecting the suspect who is being held at Kagio police station to tell us where she hid the weapon which we will use as an exhibit,” Koskei said.

The deceased's body has been transported to Kerugoya Referral Hospital mortuary, pending a postmortem examination.

The community is left in shock and mourning over this tragic incident, awaiting further developments in the ongoing investigation.
